1. Green Menggo o Green Manggo

2. Twenty Pesos or Twainty Pesos

3. Buendya or Buendia

And as always: Tama si Nikki at mali ako.(Haha)

Ayon sa latest post niya sa kanyang blog: “Spiritual Transformation is the one-year goal of the Baclaran Unida Church.” And I couldn’t agree more. I was supposed to preach a two-part series about the whole story of the Bible but I couldn’t resist the prompting of God’s spirit on me to emphasize this further with everyone today.

Although some might expect that I will be where I am right now, preaching on this pulpit, because I’m a pastor’s son and my parents reared me this way but I must confess that personally, I never thought I would have a “heart” for this. Somewhere along the way, in my mid-twenties, 10 years after I made my verbal confession of sinner’s prayer, the life that I was living although at first being influenced by parents, made sense to me. I began to notice that it was more than my parents prompting during my formative years but it was literally JESUS himself who was and who is leading me and bringing me unto himself. The “faith” of my family has become real life for me because ceased to be just merely a “religion” my family was just into but rather as something symbolic which pointed me to the real thing and It was Jesus.

I would like first to emphasize that there is nothing with saying it. But I would like to recognize that probably most of our forefather’s may have used this expression and mean it because they understood what it implies which loyal to Jesus himself as a person and more that just loyal to the “church”. And as the newer generation changed the old one, this expression has become less than what it is supposed to mean in it’s essence. Again, I would like to emphasize that there is nothing wrong saying it. This radically shifted the order of emphasis on what it means to have “faith”. It began fully in Jesus and his church but then reduced to be just the “church”. Membership to the church alone became the requirement and a personal relationship with Jesus has become optional

And now as representative of my own generation, I would like to make it clear for the generations that will follow. Just like how our forefathers walked with their God, “faith” has always been more than these things: attending Sunday School, singing in our Choir or fellowshipping with your friends. These are all lifeless activities in which without the reality of Jesus will only point you to the real thing. It is all about having a personal-day-by-day-following-the-way of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Faith means obedience to a person and more than just loyalty to church membership. And this is eternal life: that people know you, the only true God, and that they know Jesus Christ, the One you sent. (John 17:3) And “knowing” it always means more that believing in the Bible. It’s a language used to describe an “intimate relationship”. Faith means having a life-giving intimate relationship with God. And this is what it really meant to be “saved”.
